Advertising without Banners [10/28/1999]
84 percent of the respondents have employed non-banner advertising, with 59 percent instead using email as their primary source
According to Quciken.com e-mail (59 percent) is the number one method used by online advertisers, followed by New media technology (41 percent), Micro-sites (28 percent) and real digital video (19 percent). According to Quicken the number one incentive for online marketing is to acquire customers (78 percent) followed by, to drive revenue (22 percent) and to retain customers(19 percent). It was found that 84 percent of advertisers employ non banner advertising on the Internet. "While banner ads are still largely used in online marketing, Internet trends necessitate advertising that will engage customers," said Jeff Cohen, advertising director of Quicken.com. "As we enter the 21st century., Web site proprietors and the Internet advertisers must continue to develop unique programs that benefit the customer, as well as each other."
