New Google Software Allows You to Spy on Your Niche

03/07/2008
Ever wonder how your site is doing compared to others in your niche? Well, now you can find out. Google’s new benchmarking software allows users to compare such metrics as traffic patterns, for example, to others in their niche.
Based on a voluntary system, user data is not shared or quantified unless they opt in. Even when they do, they remain anonymous. Users are also free to opt out. Some planned data sharing programs is AdSense, Google’s revenue sharing ad plan, among others.

So, what exactly does this mean for Internet marketers individually, and Internet marketing as a whole?

For individual marketers, it provides a way to judge how you stack up against the competition. For example, if you experience a measurable drop in traffic, you can easily check to see if it’s just your site, or an industry dip.

For Internet marketing as a whole, it opens up new marketing opportunities. Another component of this software is that you can easily tap corresponding industries to grow your business.

For example, if your industry is one that has a dip in the summer, locating a complementary niche or sector that does well during this time can stabilize your balance sheet, and our income.

Rounding out their latest series of offerings, Google has also married its Analytics program with Audio Ads. The net result is that Audio Ad advertisers are able to get a clearer picture of their offline conversions rates.

By linking accounts, users will be able to view all of their account information on their Google Analytics page.
