Online shoppers getting older

online shoppers in the US is rising, while the average household income is falling.

According to research from Jupiter Media Metrix, most online shoppers in the next five years will be older than 35, and have annual household incomes of between USD30,000 and USD75,000.

The average household income of online shoppers will fall to less than USD65,000, from the current figure of USD70,000.

Consumers over the age of 50 will account for 30 percent of new online shoppers from this year onwards, in comparison with 16 percent of all online shoppers now.

Jupiter forecasts that the total online shopping population will grow to 132 million over the next five years, up from 66 million this year.
