Americans increasingly Net-savvy

US Internet users are becoming increasingly proficient at using the Internet, according to a new study from the Pew Internet & American Life Project.
According to the director of the Project, Lee Rainie: "The Internet has gone from novelty to utility for many Americans.They are beginning to take it for granted, but they can't imagine life without it."
Fifty-three percent of US Internet users polled in March 2002 had bought online, up from 47 percent in March 2001. Forty-two percent had purchased travel services online, up from 42 percent.
Twenty-three percent had used online banking, up from 17 percent, and 20 percent had taken part in online auctions, up from 14 percent.
On average, Internet users now have 14 different types of uses of the Internet, up from 11 last year.
