03/26/2002
The latest release of the Yahoo/ACNielsen Internet Confidence Index shows that confidence in the Internet has decreased slightly for the first quarter of 2002.

Overall, the index dropped four points during Q1 to 111, compared to the fourth quarter of 2001. However, despite the decline, the Index still remains higher than both the second and third quarters of 2001.

Yahoo/ACNielsen reveals that though their was concern over online order fulfillment in Q1, there is an increase in the number of people planning to shop online in the next three months, to an estimated 51 percent in Q2, from 47 percent in Q1, 2002.

Projections for Q3 suggest that Internet users in the US are expected to spend USD13.8 billion online, a decline on the USD14.6 billion predicted for Q1, 2002.
