US news sites see increase in visitors

Traffic to news sites in the US, increased significantly during the week ending March 31, as Internet users logged on to read national, local, and business news.

This is according to the latest figures from Nielsen/Netratings.

NYPost.com attracted 817,000 visitors, an increase of 59 percent on the previous week, while another New York based news site, NYTimes.com, jumped 24 percent to more than 2.2 million visitors.

Rounding out the list, WSJ.com recorded a 22 percent increase to 399,000 visitors, while LATimes.com rose 21 percent to 618,000.
