US Markets Going Online
04/29/2002
74.5 million US adults in 85 designated market areas (DMAs) said they had logged onto the internet "in the past month"
The Media Audit reports that, in particular, 73.4% of Madison, Wisconsin went online in the past 30 days in 2001 and Ann Arbor, Michigan followed with a penetration of 70.2%.
To put the Media Audit estimates for the DMA markets into greater perspective, eMarketer's North America Online Report presents numbers from a host of different research firms regarding Americans in general who had accessed the internet within a past 30-day period in 2001. The numbers vary based on the each firm's scope. eMarketer believes 119 million people (age 2 and up) in the US had gone online in the past 30 days in 2001.
