95 Percent Agree SEO is Important for Business

06/14/2010
An April survey that was conducted by Practical eCommerce—that posed important questions regarding the relevancy and importance of SEO in today’s business world—yielded some validating results. The purpose of the survey was to really demonstrate why organic searches are so important in today’s world of online marketing, and also to find out how much its readers know about—or do not know—about this crucial aspect of online business that has become a must-have for successful online brands.
The questions that were asked during the survey included:
1. Is SEO Important to Your Business?
2. How Well Do You Understand SEO?
3. Is Your Site Optimized?

When readers were asked how well they understood SEO, the results yielded, “40.6 percent saying they completely understand SEO and 54.7 percent saying they understand SEO somewhat. Only 4.7 percent of respondents admitted they do not understand SEO at all.” That gives us a pretty good idea as to what the average understanding of this process and art is in today’s online/eCommerce world. Most people are not that well familiarized with its (SEO) functions.

When the question of site optimization was asked in the survey, “82.8 percent of respondents said “Mainly yes.” About 11 percent said “Mainly no” and 6.3 percent said they don’t know.” The key phrase here is ‘mainly yes’ – meaning most respondents understand enough about the outcomes of SEO to know that site optimization must occur. It’s important to note SEO is constantly evolving; companies need to maintain ongoing organic search optimization efforts to stay competitive online.

62.5 percent of respondents were actually those that stated that they worked for—or were representatives for—an ecommerce company. Most importantly, however, was the first question: Is SEO Important to Your Business? To which more than 95% agreed wholeheartedly: Yes!
