Top Ten Search Engines [12/1/1999]

Websidestory reported that the top referring search engine, as of August 1999 was Yahoo.com, which accounts for 43.55 percent of all referrals from search engines.

Conversely, Excite in the same period experienced a 60 percent drop and now represents less than 10 percent of search engine referrals. This can possibly be attributed to the June 14th agreement between America Online and Inktomi, which replaced Excite powered Netfind searches with the Inktomi search engine.
