Carlos Ugalde
Founder and CEO

Carlos' big picture approach to strategy development coupled with his command of planning and online technology has been the key for building high performance e-businesses. Since 1995, Carlos has been helping companies develop and implement online business strategies, help build brand new eBusinesses, and provide clients with solutions to increase market penetration.

Carlos has been directly involved in the management of WebMetro’s larger scale eCommerce projects including marketing strategy and direction. This includes clients such as Pratt & Whitney Canada, the Student Assistance Foundation of Montana, and Public Storage. Carlos also oversees WebMetro’s technology development efforts, including WebMetro’s proprietary software DSMM Advantage™.

His professional career includes the building, growing and managing of three different, technology-driven companies in the areas of consulting, manufacturing and the Internet. During his business career Carlos’ creative talents have taken him to secure over 10 different patents and develop the vision for the development of new services at WebMetro. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in the state of California.

Michael Behrens
SVP, eMarketing

Michael Behrens is the lead strategist in developing and implementing successful online direct marketing programs for WebMetro clients. He has helped clients succeed in highly competitive industries, such as healthcare, travel, education, retail/ecommerce, and technology.

Michael is also a senior advisor to the technology team in charge of developing WebMetro’s proprietary internet marketing optimization platform DSMM Advantage™. This includes determining the critical variables involved in campaign management, intelligence gathering, and evaluation of processes related to optimization strategies.

A veteran in pay per click marketing, Michael has shared advanced techniques in search and online direct marketing at SMX Advanced, DMA, Ad-Tech, and PPC Summit. To keep WebMetro clients at the forefront of their respective industries, he has also participated in exclusive advisory groups and councils for Google and Bing.

David Kandasamy
Chief Technology Officer

David is the Chief Technology Officer for WebMetro and is responsible for all technology and software development for the company. David is also an expert at optimizing PPC campaigns and has studied the impact of targeting and segmentation, and its role in bid optimization and campaign structuring.

After spending 15 years in the operating system and database software fields, he entered the internet arena joining Netscape in 1996. He managed engineering teams working on the web server and the Netcenter portal. Following the merger with AOL, David became VP of Product Development for the Small Business initiative Netbusiness. Following that, he joined Yahoo and directed the product management teams overseeing the Autos, Yellow Pages, Maps, Real Estate, Classifieds and Search Advertising properties. In 2003, David co-founded the pioneering SEM company, SearchRev, followed by the analytics company, Tracking.net. David has an MS degree in Computer Science from UCLA and is the author of numerous patents.

Karen Helweg
VP, User
Engagement

Karen is accountable for developing and implementing user engagement strategies across online consumer touch points. She champions channel integration, landing page testing, and ongoing optimization of all online channels including conversion rate and funnel optimization. She guides everything from multivariate testing to behavioral analytics. Her responsibilities include developing landing pages, microsites, social communities, emails, banners and mobile sites/apps that engage customers and maximize clients’ media investments. For over 17 years, she has proven to be a thought leader when it comes to driving engagement and response online.

Having worked at multiple agencies – including RPA, Genex, Siegel + Gale, to name a few – Karen has been responsible for the online growth and account development of several brands. Scion, Purina, Pioneer, Nestlé USA, Technicolor, GoldMine Software, and Honda Motorcycle are a partial list of the accounts she has directly contributed to and managed. Prior to WebMetro, Karen was the Director of Interactive Services at Hamon & Associates where she restructured the agency’s interactive division and managed client relationships such as Bosch Appliances, Thermador, and Logitech.

Dani Arrusi
VP, Paid Search

Dani leads the agency’s enterprise paid search accounts to develop innovative strategies for new customer acquisition and more efficient use of our clients’ marketing investments. He is also involved heavily with the continuous evolution of DSMM Advantage™.

Before WebMetro, Dani was responsible for paid search marketing and analytics at Bank of America/Countrywide. His paid search experience dates back to ‘01 when he was the founder and owner of an internet business in commercial realty. He has a command of pairing successfully marketing and technology for optimal results.

Dani studied in the UK and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering from Brunel University.

Jennifer Taylor-Scordia
VP, Strategic Accounts

Jen is the lead client services and media strategist for some of WebMetro’s largest accounts and is responsible for providing leadership to the account services and media teams fostering a collaborative and integrated digital marketing approach. She is an online marketing expert with over 10 years of professional experience in paid search, online display, remarketing, acquisition email, affiliate marketing, mobile, and social media. She excels in utilizing online marketing channels to drive revenues, expand market share, increase customer bases, and lower cost per acquisition.

Prior to WebMetro, Jennifer was VP of Digital at Integrated Media Solutions. She has also worked at Vantage Media as Senior Director of Agency Operations and at The Search Agency as Director of Search Marketing. Her long history in online media started at Yahoo Search Marketing where she managed client accounts for paid search campaigns in the travel, ecommerce, online dating, career, automotive, entertainment, financial, health and beauty verticals. She is a certified Google AdWords Professional and a member of SEMPO LA.

Arnold Sandoval
VP, Paid Media

Arnold is the lead paid media strategist and is instrumental in developing and implementing successful integrated programs for WebMetro clients. His passion for digital marketing and his constant focus on performance led him to WebMetro in 2007 where he recognized a shared vision, drive and talent. Arnold has 15+ years of digital marketing experience ranging from affiliate, digital traffic management, shopping portals, email and media buying.

While his past 8 years have been primarily dedicated to paid search, his PPC expertise along with his holistic online marketing background has brought him full circle. This depth and breadth of experience has helped WebMetro clients outperform benchmarks and their competition. It has enabled Arnold to integrate different channels and close the loop on multi-marketing funnels. His work on both the advertiser and client levels allows him to understand client objectives, working collaboratively with clients to develop integrated plans for achieving business goals.

Joe Sarmiento
Joe Sarmiento
Senior Director,
Business Development

Prior to digital marketing, Joe honed his sales and sales management skills at two Fortune 1000 companies. He got his start in digital marketing at Overture, where he co-founded the Inside Sales group in 2002. The department grew to over 40 people and 7-figure monthly revenue before the company was bought by Yahoo for $1.6B in 2003. Joe has worked for several startups (both as a consultant and employee) where he gained critical expertise across the broad spectrum of digital marketing, including display, affiliate, domain, mobile, and social media. He now leads the sales team at WebMetro.

Joe has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington. He is also a successful content creator around his passion for saltwater fishing.

Travis Low
Senior Director, SEO

Travis Low is the lead SEO strategist at WebMetro and has over 11 years of experience in the online marketing world. His main focus is to give more exposure to the true business benefits of SEO and how its integration across all digital platforms is a key driver in a company’s online success. He has provided the SEO strategy for clients in several industries, including consumer electronics, manufacturing, SaaS and technology.

Raised in an entrepreneurial environment, Travis has been involved with technology companies at an early age. He stays on the bleeding edge of all things digital. He also brings to the table a strong background in process improvement and project management.

Travis is an alumnus of University of California, Irvine, where he earned his B.A. in Social Science.

Robert Reyes
Director, Web Applications

Rob manages all WebMetro client development projects including eCommerce, web design, and content management systems. He has developed and directed the development of a large number of websites ranging from simple brochure micro sites to sophisticated custom eCommerce integration of Microsoft Commerce Server with dynamic imaging, site search, and merchandising. Rob is the technical leader providing direction for WebMetro designers, developers, and IT infrastructure.

The first version of WebMetro’s proprietary online marketing optimization and tracking software DSMM Advantage™ was developed by Rob. In his tenure at WebMetro, he has skillfully led multiple developers and engineers to produce applications more efficiently and with greater effectiveness to achieve higher ROI for the agency’s clients.

Rob has also led the development efforts of enterprise applications such as the implementation of complex corporate-wide systems at multiple technology companies including Educational Testing Service, Advance Business Graphics, Net4TV Corporation, and Software Engineering and Management Associates. He has over ten years of applications development experience and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis on Computer Information Systems from Cal Poly Pomona.

Amber Jain
Director, Software

With over a decade of technology experience, Amber leads the technology team for WebMetro’s proprietary online marketing platform DSMM Advantage™ and is responsible for the design and development of DSMM. His dedication paired with his expertise and search marketing knowledge has been instrumental in continuously enhancing DSMM tracking and analytics capabilities.

Amber has created several custom reporting capabilities for DSMM, providing detailed insights to help WebMetro strategists and account managers optimize Internet marketing campaigns to outperform our clients’ competition and provide greater ROI.

Amber has an MS degree in Computer Science from University of Southern California, Los Angeles along with a BS in Electrical Engineering from India. Prior to WebMetro, he worked at several other technology-focused organizations helping them create scalable and complex web applications for clients like Apple, Toshiba, and Nordstrom using ASP.net/VB.net, SQL Server, Oracle, XML, C/C++, and many other applications.

Lydia Chen Shah
Director, Marketing
Communications

Lydia Chen Shah leads WebMetro’s integrated marketing communications plan. She works with all facets of the agency and champions WebMetro’s industry relations, from supplier diversity to specialized groups. She helped found the Los Angeles chapter of SEMPO and serves as its vice president of education.

Prior to WebMetro, she worked in marketing at Bank of America and Indymac Bank in the e-commerce, credit/debit, retail banking and home equity categories. Lydia is also a consultant at Gerson Lehrman Group and an adjunct marketing professor at Cal Poly Pomona. Before teaching at Cal Poly, she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in brand management and services marketing at Loyola Marymount University.

She earned her M.B.A. from LMU, a B.S. in business administration from Cal Poly Pomona, and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt. She is the board chair for the LMU MBA Alumni Association and serves on the Board of Directors for Cal Poly Pomona’s Alumni Association.

Cherie Sauer
Director, Content
Strategies

Cherie Sauer is responsible for the development of content strategies, content curation and production, content integration programs, and cross-platform distribution across digital, video, mobile, and social channels. She leads a team of highly creative marketers, copywriters, videographers, and digital designers to deliver intelligent, deeply relevant content using entertainment storytelling techniques backed by search analytics, semantic logic, and user behavior metrics.

Cherie’s background includes an M.F.A. in Creative Writing and over twelve years in digital marketing, content development and licensing with a variety of consumer brands including Hewlett-Packard, 3M, Plantronics, Wirefly, Disney, BabyCenter, JAMBA (News Corp), Turner, NHRA, MLB, Ocean Club, Ritz, Sunkist, and Jenny Craig. She is also a current member of SEMPO.

Jessie Mamey
Media Director

Jessie Mamey is the lead strategist for online media, focused in permission-based email and display for direct response and performance-minded advertisers. Jessie’s start in direct response was at a full-service offline and digital agency. She provides WebMetro clients a thorough understanding of traditional and digital media and an integrated marketing mindset. Her start in paid search several years ago combined with her campaign management experience has provided ample opportunities to uncover the benefits and nuances of SEM, email, display and affiliate marketing channels.

Jessie has been a driving force in challenging the traditional display and email model, working to bring a more transparent experience and explanation of email and display’s targeting and optimization technologies. She has helped propel campaign growth for clients in automotive, insurance, pharmaceutical, health & beauty, technology, non-profit and travel verticals. Jessie is an alumnus of Occidental College where she received a degree in Cognitive Science and Music.

One of WebMetro’s veteran employees, Casey ensures WebMetro is exceeding client expectations by bringing superior talent, technologies, process and culture to the agency’s clients. She has over 12 years of experience servicing clients. She has also managed WebMetro’s reporting team and is skilled in account management, coordination, and project management. She is a driving force for maintaining a work environment focused on innovation, collaboration and quality. Before joining WebMetro, she worked at M80 Interactive Marketing where she managed a team specializing in online grassroots marketing campaigns for artists, record labels, and production companies.

Eric has over ten years of global multidisciplinary experience in direct response marketing, design, and brand development.

His expertise includes business intelligence and analytics strategies with an ability to communicate and define goals from initial conception through all aspects of the analytical solutions cycle. Eric has pioneered solutions to enable improved profitability, increased brand value and sales via high-impact user experience. He is the author of the AdAge Power 150 blog designdamage.com and has been featured in MarketingSherpa, VentureBeat, CMO.com, Social Media Today, Frost & Sullivan, and Junta42 Content Marketing Institute.

Eric graduated from University of California, Irvine, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts.
